Matthew Rankin: Recent Mischief
7:30pm – 9:00pm
Matthew Rankin is keeping Winnipeg weird and wonderful. The heir-apparent of Guy Maddin's King of Quirk crown, Rankin's highly visual, provocative work is both irreverent and disarmingly political. This evening brings together recent highlights from his prodigious output of short films.
Jeremy Bailey: The Future
9:00-10:00pm
With his signature deadpan, Bailey appropriates new media vocabularies to illuminate art world myopia, collective and personal anxieties towards technology, and the simultaneously limitless and astoundingly limited nature of human ingenuity. Bailey's performative, self-reflexive videos suggest the future is now and it is both beautiful and extraordinarily disappointing. Jeremy Bailey: The Future is the first mini-retrospective of Bailey's work, bringing together six of his videos in an augmented reality lecture format.
