Syria: Visions for Tomorrow

This event aims to bring together a panel of discussants engage on the issues that Syria will face in a scenario where Assad has resigned, and the process of regime change has begun.

The panelists will include Afra Jalabi, a member of the Executive Committee that produced the report; Dr. Paul Kingston, an Associate Professor of political science at the University of Toronto specializing in the Middle East; Hind Kabawat, a Syrian Toronto-based attorney and a senior analyst in conflict resolution with CRDC/George Mason University; and Stephen Starr, a freelance journalist and author of Revolt in Syria: Eye-Witness to the Uprising.

In addition to the evening panel discussion, the work of Syrian artist and graduate of the Ontario College of Art and Design Nermin Moufti will be exhibited. Nermins thesis for her Masters in Fine Arts is entitled Encoding Resistance: Graphic Design and Media Control in The Syrian Uprising, and explores visual and material tactics to communicate fragments of a lived experience through the perspective of public opinion control in Syrian media.
