Love Show, The Wall

918 Bathurst’s annual Love Show involves community collaboration to link the creative relationship between visual art and self-esteem. November 8 opening will mark the 10th Annual Love Show focusing on the theme of The Wall. The charity event auctions off each 6x6 inch block of art to collectors, donating the profits from the sales to Sistering womens center on Bloor street west. The show asks submitters to explore “How the symbolic representation of the wall separates your personal beliefs, or dictate the politics of your own identity […] What types of walls do we build around ourselves, protecting our pleasures from the outside deceptions of desire?
“Part of this show’s mandate is understanding that it’s not an oxymoron to build independence, using community support. Sistering is a safe, creative place for women struggling with issues that often effect self-esteem. It brings people together but it also empowers them to build self-sufficient lives. Inspirations Studios augment that with their creative business support.”
