The 2012 FOOL- festival of oral literatures is an international celebration of the arts of voice and story. FOOL was founded in 2009 by Lisa Pijuan-Nomura and Dan Yashinsky as a place where artists from many disciplines can explore contemporary storytelling. It unfolds as a series of urban campfires in cafes, galleries, theatres, and farmers’ markets.
The 2012 edition features Jan Blake, from England, who brings stories from her Jamaican ancestry; Ron Evans, a Metis mythteller and oral historian; Renée Robitaille, from Québec. Local performers include Susan Coyne, Rainos Mutamba, Brian Katz, Charly Chiarelli, Morgan Jones Phillips, Zabrina Chevannes, Jennifer Dick, Celia Lottridge, and many more.
