Toronto Chamber Choir: The Mysterious Pierre A-la-mi-re

The Toronto Chamber Choir's 2012-13 season begins with music from the extensive collection of the 16th-century copyist Pierre Alamire. This season-opening Kaffeemusik (lecture-concert) will discover how this merchant, mining engineer, diplomat and spy was also one of Europe's most important copyists of music manuscripts. During the performance, images of Alamire's many volumes of beautifully illuminated copies will be projected above the choir. We will perform music by Josquin, Johannes Ockeghem, Pierre de la Rue and Adrian Willaert.

Afternoon Kaffeemusiks are a mix of expert and entertaining commentary from our Music Director with music sung by the choir.

Coffee, tea and home baking follow.
