Shinsedai Cinema Festival presents Pink Films 2.0
Back by popular demand, following a successful Toronto premiere, the Shinsedai Cinema Festival, Toronto’s independent Japanese film showcase, presents Pink Films 2.0 featuring Japanese director Yukio Kitazawa’s Deep Contact and Daisuke Goto’s Blind Love. The evening also includes burlesque performances by Red Herring Burlesque, Toronto’s internationally recognized burlesque artist.
Admission:
$10 at the door
$7.00 (For those in Adult Fancy Dress or Pink Film Aspired Attire)
In Yukio Kitazawa’s sci-fi comedy Deep Contact a rogue comet is discovered hurtling towards Earth and scientists must turn to loner Wataru and his powers of “sexual psychokinesis” to knock it off its collision course. A campy parody of sci-fi blockbusters Armageddon and Deep Impact
Daisuke Goto’s surprisingly sweet romantic comedy Blind Love tells the story of the lovely and blind Hikari who mistakes apprentice ventriloquist Yoichi for his mentor Daisuke. All that these two friends can do is give the ventriloquism performance of their lives to hold on to Hikari’s affections.
Pink Films 2.0 invites Toronto audiences an opportunity to explore the world of the softcore erotic film genre that has spawned some of Japan’s most celebrated directors, including: Kiyoshi Kurosawa (Tokyo Sonata), Masayuki Suo (Shall We Dance?), and Oscar winner Yojiro Takita (Departures).
Pink Films 2.0 is sponsored by Northbound Leather and L.A. film distributor Pink Eiga.
