GALLERY HOP TOURS & TALKS

Over one weekend, the Canadian Art Foundation presents three exciting experiences that celebrate the visual arts under the theme “Smart Art.” This Thursday, September 22, we will host the annual Gallery Hop Gala Dinner & Auction and all-new After Party at the Carlu. This Saturday, September 22, join us for a day of art, conversation and celebration with free public tours and talks at galleries around Toronto. Finally, wrap up the art festivities with a launch for our new fall issue and refreshed website.

1.

THURSDAY SEPT. 20

GALA DINNER & AUCTION with AFTER PARTY

THE CARLU, 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.

Our annual Gallery Hop Gala is the most anticipated art party of the season, and once again the gala dinner is sold out. Over 600 tickets sold to Toronto’s art-lover and collector community. But you can still be part of the fun! We are throwing our first-ever After Party which will begin at 9 p.m. Don’t miss the chance to experience this unrivalled art event and special one-night-only experiences led by artists Luis Jacob and Geoffrey Pugen, who will be DJing and performing at the After Party.

Our live and silent auction showcases an exceptional selection of more than 40 artworks by Canada’s emerging and established art stars. It provides the perfect opportunity to acquire a new work of art while supporting artists and the Canadian Art Foundation, one of Canada’s most respected visual-arts organizations.

We are delighted to welcome Lisa Dennison, Chairman, Sotheby’s North and South America, who will share her knowledge of the current art market with gala guests. Over the course of her distinguished career, Ms. Dennison has developed outstanding relationships with important collectors, artists and experts worldwide. She is an internationally recognized figure in the fields of modern and contemporary art.

We are equally delighted to have Sotheby’s Senior Auctioneer C. Hugh Hildesley conduct the live auction. Hildesley has conducted some of Sotheby’s most prestigious sales, including the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Sale and the Sale of the Property of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor. He holds the record for the highest selling price at auction of any Canadian painting: Paul Kane’s Scene in the Northwest—Portrait of John Henry Lefroy in 2002 for $5.2 million.
