Jubilation! by Michael Holt & The Kids CD Release show and call for cultural activists

An experiment in large ensemble intimacy: can we create the coziness of a living room concert by putting 13 musicians on the Tranzac floor with no microphones, surrounded by a theatre-in-the-round audience?

We will also announce the formation of a new collective called Make Our Own Culture. Are you a cultural activist - someone dissatisfied with the current culture in Toronto, and interested in inventing new traditions, projects, gatherings, events, venues, and campaigns to build more meaningful connections between people, arts, and what’s really happening on the planet? Then come get involved!

P.W.Y.W. = Pay what you wish

Featuring . . .
The Kids: Michael Holt (piano and singing), Don Kerr (drums and singing), David Celia (guitar and singing), Peter Murray (bass and singing).
The Michael Holt Ensemble: cello, viola, violin, and two flutes.
Dave Celia’s lads: Marcus age 8 (drums) and Lucas age 11 (bass).
And special guests Michelle Rumball (singing), and Shelley Coopersmith (fiddle and singing).

Currently based in Toronto, Native New Yorker and member of internationally acclaimed band The Mommyheads, Michael Holt has released seven solo albums and toured extensively in Europe, the U.S., and Canada. His emotional, diverse, melodic music has been compared to such artists as Rufus Wainwright, Elvis Costello, and The Beatles. His last two tours abroad, the Make Our Own Culture Tour and the Transition Culture Tour have explored the role of small-scale, participatory cultural gatherings in social change.
