Thomas Gonder plays The Met 2: Naji Hakim's Le Tombeau d'Olivier Messiaen

I'm thrilled to get back at this enormous 1930 Casavant, Canada's largest organ! I'm kick-starting the 2012/2013 Noonhour Series with a bang with John Cook's Fanfare, Lyric Interlude by Alexander Schreiner, then performing Naji Hakim's Le Tombeau d'Olivier Messiaen which I first played in Canada in 1995. It's a bracing, evocative and hair-raising work. Excited to be sharing this wonderful music in what I hope will be an exciting and enjoyable opener to the new season of recitals at Met.
