BEANS ~ 101 Cooking with JIVA: Lessons for Artists

101 Cooking with JIVA: Lessons for Artists
------------------------------------

Please join us this Monday August 13 at 8pm in the kitchen at DDL (209 Augusta Ave in Kensington Market) where Jiva will be teaching us all about BEANS!!!

(kindly rsvp)

from Jiva:

I'm teaching a six part course that will offer the practical knowledge of elementary preparations and principles of cookery to empower artists in the kitchen. Students will learn how to approach cooking with more confidence and create more interesting food though simple instruction in techniques, history as well as exploration of the ingredients themselves! First class: egg appreciation! From goose to guinea fowl and quail... perfectly poached.

Jiva is an artist and has trained as a chef for ten years. From TO, she spent seven years primarily in LA before moving back last year. She attended the Stratford Chef School in 08/09 and her apprenticeship with Jamie Kennedy Kitchens led her to work at: Vicki's Veggies, an organic farm in Prince Edward County; the Sooke Harbour House on Vancouver Island and Chez Panisse in Berkeley, California. She is currently working on a performance piece called "Water Banquet" and a children's book about vegetables.
