Each summer famed butoh dancer Akaji Maro invites both professional dancers and curious amateurs to participate in an intensive butoh dance workshop retreat. Director Kenji Okabe and famed cinematographer Yutaka Yamazaki (Hirokazu Koreeda’s Nobody Knows and Still Walking) follow Maro and his students through one summer as they explore the movements and philosophy of this avant-garde at form, and prepare to give a revealing butoh performance in the Japanese countryside.

The screening of THE NAKED SUMMER will be preceded by filmmaking collective Team Gatera's experimental film TSUKI-YOMI.
