Canada Day at Mackenzie House

Celebrate Canada's 145th birthday with a visit to the home of William Lyon Mackenzie. Starting today we will be highlighting the events that led up to the Upper Canada Rebellion, which marks its 175th anniversary in December. Mackenzie's lifelong work to achieve responsible government was the reason friends bought him this house in 1859, and also why he was designated a National Historic Person of Canada, in 1949. Join us for a tour and learn why Mackenzie and others chose to take drastic steps in their attempts to achieve reform.Throughout the day, enjoy music by Mike Ford, who will be performing his original Canadian history-inspired songs.Print a special Canada postcard on the printing press Light refreshments will be served. Admission is free.
