ZONE X-TREME CULMINATING PARTY - AOD 2012

MADELEINE COLLECTIVE presents the Culminating Party for ZONE X: EPHEMERA of the Art of the Danforth Festival taking place at LucSculpture School & Studios (663 Greenwood Ave) on Sat, June 9 from 6:30PM - 10PM.
The party kicks off with the exclusive premiere of the "These are the People in Your Neighbourhood" documentary capturing the hilarious process behind the unique project by Toronto-based MAMMALIAN DIVING REFLEX. The Grade 4/5 classes of the West-end Dovercourt Public School and the Grade 4 class of the East-end R.H. McGregor Elementary School return with a new business performance - preparing and serving free grilled cheese sandwiches and lemonade!
On the third floor of LucSculpture, the party features the debut sound installation by THE POCKETOLOGY COLLECTIVE showcasing pocket-stories collected throughout the Art of the Danforth festival. Listen to a sneak peek of the funny and heartbreaking stories told by Danforth residents and visitors which aired on CBC Here and Now: http://soundcloud.com/lily-ames/the-pocketologists
Throughout the party, Zone X artist DAN BAZUINn hosts "Traffic Jam", a collaborative art project in which a stack of perforated computer paper is transformed into a cartoon highway measuring nearly a kilometre in length. A work-in-progress for over fifteen years, this is your chance to add your own vehicle to the zany freeway where anything goes as long as it’s on wheels.
Beautiful photographs from STEPHANIE AVERY'S "Abandonments" series (which are wheat-pasted through the Danforth neighbourhood) and DAN BAZUIN'S "Smashes" series are also exhibited! Grab a beer, enjoy a grilled cheese sandwich and come meet the artists, participants and kids involved in the Zone X projects for a kick-butt celebration of an amazing festival!
