When Dinamo asked if we'd be interested in bringing producer/Dj Pal Joey on for the next Bang the Party, it was more of a rhetorical question. The fact is that Pal is a straight up legend.

Search for bios of Pal Joey for long enough and you'll quickly learn that as far as the question his relevance is concerned there is enough said about Pal Joey by dance music legends to render any personal interviews with the man himself unnecessary. In short his music and track record speaks for itself. Having your music appearing on comps by Masters At Work listed as an influence by people like James Murphy and Tim Sweeney, Charles Webster, the included on David Mancuso's list of favorites says it all.

In the current climate of seemingly endless barrage if "hit today gone tomorrow" designed radio fodder, Pal Joey remains in dance music history a true original at a time when there were still enough original ideas to keep people interested, engaged and excited to see what the next big this would be. All the while keeping people moving to the beat.
He(along with his contemporaries ) helped sow the seeds of what we now know as the house music scene and all with no more than a drum machine 4 track reel 2 reel and a razor blade to cut and splice tape.

Under the alias SOHO, Pal Joey produced "Hot Music" the 100% dance floor sure shot
The effective use of a melodic piano loop and properly chopped drum patterns codified Pal Joeys place in Dance Music. The formula was so effective that years later all K-OS had to do is rhyme over "Hot Music" and Superstarr, Pt. Zero became the hit that helped catapult his career.

Later using infusing live jazz and soul for the New Breed project in 1995 Pal Joey once again proved himself as leader in the underground dance music scene despite his numerous more high profile collaborations over the years.

Here's a little list of some of the people Pal Joey has worked with.
Deee-Lite, Earth People, House Conductor, Sade, Shabba Ranks, Boogie Down Productions, Brand New Heavies, Eric B & Rakim, The Orb, Brio, Alexis P Sutter , Beautiful People, Brothers Of The Mind (Stop Schemin), Children Of Planet Earth, Dana Byrd.

Pal Joey, rocks a crowd like no other and we are proud to have him on this month.
This one is not to be missed
