Moving to New York in 1999 to study Music Technology at New York University, Tim Sweeney quickly established a radio show on the universities station, WNYU. For two years he did his show "Beat In Space" on the stations AM channel until finally moving his show onto WNYU's FM station (89.1 FM) in 2001. Since then he has been doing his show every Thursday night from 10:30pm to 1am on 89.1 FM. After being in New York for a year, Tim ran into the hip-hop legend Steinski (of Double Dee & Steinski "Lessons 1, 2 & 3") at a show and invited him to guest DJ on the radio. This started a friendship between the two and later that year Tim interned at Steinski's studio. Learning from Steinski's vast record collection, Tim tried to soak in as much as he could from his work with Steinski. Eventually, his internship led to Tim being the DJ for Double Dee & Steinski's first ever live show in 2002 at the Roseland Ballroom opening up for DJ Shadow.

Hearing about a new bar called Plant that had opened up in the East Village, Tim brought a mix CD by to give to the bartender, Luke Jenner, to see if he could get a weekly night there. After playing at Plant for a few months, Tim met Tim Goldsworthy who was producing Luke's band, The Rapture, and starting up a record label. Tim knew about Mr. Goldsworthy from his work with U.N.K.L.E. and Mo Wax, which had always been a huge influence on Tim since he started DJing in 1995. Eventually he started interning at the Plantain Studio, where Tim Goldsworthy and James Murphy were producing and starting their record label, DFA. Again, Tim found himself in a lucky position, being able to learn from two amazing producers who were more than willing to share their knowledge.

Tim's work with the DFA led to playing the saxophone on the DFA remix of Radio 4's "Dance To The Underground," as well as mixing the DFA cover CD for Muzik magazine in 2003 and doing the mix cd for the DFA Compilation # 2 with Tim Goldsworthy. Other production work has included co-writing and scratching on two tracks for the recent Rammellzzee album, "Bi-Conicals of the Rammellzee" on GOMMA Records and a self-released 7" record.

Since 2003 Tim has been working at Rockstar Games as their Soundtrack Supervisor, putting together the music for their games such as "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas." He can also be found every Friday night DJing at Apt. in New York's meatpacking district.
