Gentle/Men

Esther Simmonds-MacAdam paints gentle men. In her solo exhibition ‘Gentle/Men: Reflective Masculinity’ on display in the Jacobs Lounge of the Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre from March 16th to April 28th, she displays oil paintings of men which contradict cultural notions of what it means to be masculine (aggressive, powerful, dominant, in control). Esther paints men who retain their masculinity while making visible their softer side; moments of vulnerability, uncertainty, and reflection.
