Frangipane Toronto

Much-loved Dupont bakery shutters after 11 years

Frangipane, the popular Dupont bakery with superb croissants, cakes, and pastries, has shut its doors, ending an 11 year run on a street that started to bloom over its tenure.

"Thank you to my loyal customers for supporting Frangipane during the past 11 years. After much deliberation and chocolate therapy I have decided to focus on creating custom cakes, pastries and confections for special occasions and events... This means that unfortunately, Frangipane will no longer operate as a retail shop," reads a note posted in the front window by owner Claudia Egger.

Frangipane follows Clafouti in closing its doors this year. Both bakeries had loyal followings for their French-inspired treats (with a bit of Switzerland thrown in at the former), and will be missed in their respective neighbourhoods.
