OPENING SOON

  • Carl's Jr., the charbroiled burger chain that one Chowhounder aptly called "the U.S.'s raunchiest", is coming to Canada. [Toronto Star]

CLOSING

  • French patisserie, Patachou bids adieu to its loyal following on May 3rd. Both the Summerhill location at 1120 Yonge Street and the newish spot at 835 St. Clair West are closing. [The Grid]
  • Railee's Diner at 133 Manville Road in Scarborough has closed citing slow business. [Chowhound]

Went to the Irv on opening night. Lamb shanks were terrific, service was good and many customers.
That being said, the location has been problematic and lots of competition from Stout Irish Pub, Hey Lucy, House on Parliament and the Local Gest.

I second the thumbs up for THE IRV. The beer prices are very reasonable, and the food was very good. There are some opening day hiccups to work out, and personally I think the menu is a WEE bit too ambitious (I do applaud them for some interesting choices - but every now and then a guy just wants a chicken wing), I think these guys will stick around.

The staff really went out of their way to make folks welcome, and we'll return.

I went to Carl's Jr in Vegas after a night of drinking. Never again. The burgers are soooo greasy and unflavored.

An Enzo pizza bar would be nice in the annex as we need some real pizza here. I hear they're opening in liberty though which is good I guess. Can anyone confirm?
