toronto dine safeThis week on DineSafe, another three Toronto restaurants provided a little extra incentive for packing your own lunch. Kokame Japanese on Wilson, La Tortilleria on St. Clair, and Sinchon Food on Bayview were all required to close their doors for varied unacceptable health and safety conditions. To offer a little spoiler (no pun intended): rodents and insects were involved. Joining them on the shortlist this week are the Green Room and Noodle Bowl (among others) both of which are no strangers to critical DineSafe scrutiny. La Tortilleria is awesome. Always seems very clean in there to me. I bet it's clean to latin american standards, just not to Toronto standards. Sorry that sounds racist, I just mean I've never felt uncomfortable eating there. They probably just need to put down some traps etc.

The link for La Tortilleria is wrong, it's the location on 1040 St Clair Ave

Is it the right La Tortileria? In your article you say the one on St. Clair but when you click the link in teh article it brings you to one in Kensington Market. Which is it? I live near the one on St. Clair.

Steve's Restaurant has had numerous conditional passes. Twice I've had food poisoning from there that was so bad I ended up in the hospital. Won't go near the place.

The stuff Pita King passes off as meat is incredible. I wouldn't give it to a stray dog I did't like.

Too bad the city can't pass bylaw that charges the owner with negligence causing bodily harm when a patron gets food poisoning. That would shut down most of these crappy hole in the wall joints in TO.
