This Week on DineSafe: Family Thai, Magic Oven, Pizza Pizza, Simple Bistro, South China Restaurant, Sunrise Bar & Grill, Sushi Hana, Sushi Villa

Posted by Robyn Urback / February 28, 2012

DineSafe TorontoThis week on DineSafe, two Toronto restaurants were caught operating amidst rodent infestations. And yes, that menacing feeling in your throat is your gag reflex now on alert. Sushi Hana at Yonge and Wellesley was closed for an apparent rodent infestation (and a myriad of other infractions, but I digress), and so too was South China Restaurant at Mount Pleasant and Davisville, both for an infestation and general "gross unsanitary conditions."

Gulp. I'd say ignorance is bliss, but bliss doesn't usually involve one's head over a toilet. There were also a number of conditional passes handed out this week, which suddenly have the impression of being a lot less devastating. In any case, I suspect there will be a few more Torontonians packing their lunches for work tomorrow. Here are a few of the notable guilty parties caught by DineSafe inspections this week.

blogTO, you should do a similar article about Toronto dinign scene and DineSafe violations. Sometimes, there are some pretty compelling reasons to break the rules.

Keep in mind these minor infractions can be for extremely silly things. Like being out of paper towel in the guest bathrooms.

Its important to understand how these things work... Each inspector varies greatly.

I not really sure what is considered an "infestation" but it would be great if you guys provided a little
More detail on what exactly these infractions are before you go outta your way and tarnish peoples businesses.

Not saying these places didnt deserve it. But you can actually get a yellow for some silly shit.

Right. Because without paper towel in the bathroom, staff is gonna dry their hands on their jeans...or not wash their hands at all.

Click on the date link beside Inspected on: it takes you right to the full city report.

The report also shows past inspections so you can see if it's a one-off or recurring problem.
