This week on DineSafe: ABC Bakery, Aji Sai, Amaya, Burger Bar, Markaz, Mideastro, Moe Pancer's

Posted by Robyn Urback / December 28, 2011

DineSafe TorontoThis week on DineSafe, a popular Kensington burger spot was forced to close its doors for two days. Burger Bar is known for its saag paneer poutine and great selection of craft beer, but to the people at Toronto Public Health this week, it's simply one restaurant that has failed to "prevent a rodent infestation." But have they tried the sweet potato fries?!

A few bakeries and cafes were also slapped with conditional passes including a North York bakery famous for its Cantonese custard tarts, and a summertime favourite for shisha in clubland. And just in case you missed Amaya Express on Bayview from a few weeks ago, it's here again with another conditional pass. Here's a brief of some spots that appeared on DineSafe this week.

That's a shame about Moe's. However, their food has been going downhill for awhile now. I think it even started before the new owner took over. They were on my boycott list when they raised their prices, reduced the quantity, and the quality went downhill. It wasn't worth what you were paying.

I feel like being located in Kensington will inevitably lead to either a yellow or red inspection. Too bad though: I like Burger Bar. As for Aji Sai, I'm glad I've only eaten at the one on Queen West.

Not surprised about Markaz. Went there a few weeks ago and we were really unimpressed! We'll never go back.

Cripes, if I'd seen this earlier, and specifically about Burger Bar, I wouldn't have gone there yesterday. And I enjoyed their burger and onion rings too. Hmph.

The Burger Bar location is the one in Kensington Market - not the one at College & Yonge.
I love their burgers

Just noting the difference between the two burger bars -- Burger Bar in Kensington and W Burger Bar on College.

Why do Amaya restaurants always fail their inspections? This chain has a huge problem, and I for one will be avoiding all their locations until it is fixed.

But Amaya didn't fail. They got a conditional pass. Read much? I love it when people post about their epic, world-changing stances: "and I for one will be avoiding all their locations until it is fixed."
