Photos of the 2011 Taste of Asia Festival

Posted by Staff / June 27, 2011

Taste of Asia 2011The annual Taste of Asia Festival took over the streets outside the Pacific Mall this weekend, with 150 vendor booths and a host of other activities including a pet fashion show, bike inspections and Shaolin Kung Fu performances amongst other things. It's not really a cliche to say that the festival celebrates diversity considering all the events taking place. Where else can you take in an auto show and a Bibimbap eating competition? For all the stuff to do, however, one thing that everyone got in on was the food. Along with the Bibimbap chowdown, there was a noodle eating challenge and ample opportunity to get stuffed with cuisine from throughout Asia and beyond.

Why doesnt anyone in BlogTO notify people of upcoming events such as this one rather than reporting on it afterwards.
The EVENTS calendar in BlogTO needs some major fix ups people..

Because BlogTO is too busy posting anti Rob Ford pro bicycle articles instead.

We really could have used a heads up on this event.

Post something before the event happens, not afterward, ffs

There's another one of these in July. It's in Markham but they have a shuttle bus(es).

Ah, the internet age, where personal responsibility and accountability no longer exists. If you're so excited about the event, you should have known about it before hand, no?

I guess we should shut down the whole news industry because people who want to know what's going on around the world should just find out somehow maybe through carrier pigeons.

I would love to go IF SOMEONE WOULD NOTIFY ME!!!:-)

No.

How can one know if they're excited about an event that they weren't aware of? It's not too much to ask of a site that discusses what's going on in the city.
What do you want me to do, Frank? Do you want me to get out my 2012 agenda and write down a reminder for around this time next year?

We list well over 100 events a week in our <a href="http://www.blogto.com/events/";>listings section</a> and highlight others via our <a href="http://www.blogto.com/radar/";>Radar</a> posts, but this one somehow didn't make it into either. That was a miss for which I'll take responsibility, but I'll also take the disappointment expressed here as a sign that we've created expectations via a system that is generally very informative.

There are many websites that publicize upcoming events, like NOW magazine, Canada Events Calendar, craigslist, and even BlogTO has an events section. If people don't make the effort to seek out this information, it seems a little unfair to blame BlogTO after the fact. There are many events that happen every day, how is BlogTO supposed to know which ones you are interested in so they can notify you? The onus is on you to seek out such information. I've bookmarked several Upcoming Events sites that I check every day and would encourage you and the other complainers to do the same.

Well if you're planning on reporting about it, what's so hard about mentioning it beforehand? It's just that simple. Are you suggesting that we stop checking-in to BlogTO?

Michael Ho, how can you do a photo shoot of an Asian festival and not include some shots of hot Asian babes?? Unforgivable.

I have to agree with Mark Zuckerberg's comment, id like to see pics of beautiful asian women because I'm single, Mark wants to see them because he's not marrying a pretty one.

As Derek mentioned, this particular event was missed by accident but usually all upcoming events are listed on the Events page. My point was simply that in the age of the Internet all such information is out there, so the responsibility of finding it ultimately rests with you.

Derek's post was fair and completely acceptable. But your comment on Aydin's post after the fact just sucks. To continue on and say that the responsibility ultimately rests with "you" is cheeky to say the least and yet you are correct. The point that you clearly missed in Aydin's post is that if you plan on reporting on a certain event, a simple heads up would've been nice, which Derek duteously addressed.

Derek's post was fair and completely acceptable.
Your comment on Aydin's post however, sucks. To continue on and say that the responsibility ultimately rests with "you" is cheeky and disrespectful to everyone who reads BlogTO. The thought that you clearly missed is that if you plan on reporting on a certain event, a simple heads up would've been nice which Derek duteously addressed.

I think it's fair to assume that a lot of us use BlogTO as an alternative to the weekly papers. And to be honest, I use it exclusively via Twitter links and didn't even know there was an events page. I'm not mad, though.

i bet if blogto had made a post notifying people about this upcoming festival, there would've been complaints about how it wasn't in toronto!
