Our Strawberry Blonde at Cold Stone

On a recent trip to Waikiki, I found this awesome chain of ice cream shops called, The Cold Stone Creamery.

I order "Our Strawberry Blonde," a concoction of two scoops strawberry ice cream, graham cracker pie crust, strawberries, caramel and whipped topping. Holy crap, no wonder everyone in the States is hefty!

They take the scoops of ice cream and mix the rest of the ingredients together and mould it back into the bowl or a sugar or waffle cone. Brilliant. Eistein couldn't have thought of a better invention. Check out their menu here. (Sadly, there aren't any locations in Canada as of yet.) But man, why couldn't Baskin Robbins or Dairy Queen get more creative like this? They'd have to wheel me out of the store. Or stack me on my Segway like Gob on Arrested Development.

Oh, another reason why Americans are so fat:

This was taken at the Honolulu International Airport. Look at the size of that breast -- a bird's breast the size of my pointy face....and some!

There's a place called Marble Slab Creamery in London, Ontario that's pretty much the same style of ice cream.

It was great meeting you on the Big Island! I hope you did not have too much trouble getting to the Hilo airport. If you ever visit the San Francisco Bay area feel free to come and stay in our guest room. We have a Cold Stone right down the street.

I'm a crazy good internet researcher. It comes from coaching years of policy debate. My mom's conference went really well. The turn out was about 20% more than they expected due to a newpaper announcement of the topic. She's pretty funny. Too bad you missed the story about her competing in the Miss Senior America Contest.

When I lived in NYC, they opened a few Cold Stone Creameries there. It was pretty good but not spectacular. The annoying thing is the place is always crowded, especially the one in Times Sq.

As for Hawaii, they consume the most Spam per capita out of all 50 states. You can find Spam sushi, Spam haute cuisine (somewhat of an oxymoron), Spam burgers, etc. Remnant of WWII when fresh meat was rationed and Spam did not require refrigeration. At any rate ... Yuck!
