Espresso Hunt: Kensington

Posted by Amil / December 8, 2005

If you think this espresso looks good, you should see it in full-size The fates today brought me to Kensington Market, and the market brought me to Louie's Coffee Stop (which may or may not actually be its name; the coffee shop at the corner of Augusta and Baldwin).

My companion ordered a small mocha coffee. I, as is my wont, ordered an espresso, short and strong.

All things considered, it was good, but not great. There was probably about two shots worth of espresso in the cup, which is good by Toronto standards. The espresso was slightly creamy, but with a touch of bitterness. The biggest downside though was the crema. It was thin, and didn't have much staying power. The mocha smelled nice though.

The hunt continues.

Well, I know where the best latte in the city is: La Passione Italiana, at Yonge and St Clair.

Espresso ... my dad still makes the best, stovetop, with our stainless steel espresso pot, straight from Italia!
