This comic strip is silly and juvenile. Can't we have something that's smart and sophisticated, on the level of what you'd find say in a publication like the New Yorker? I just cringe whenever I see this ridiculous thing.

Hey Donna -- thanks for the constructive criticism.

I agree. Is this just going to go on like this, dumping on "crack heads", or is there a joke here somewhere?

I think the punch line comes in #45. Have some patience.

Dear Steve and Tom,

What can I say guys? You don't like the strip -- big deal. I think it's pretty obvious that there are people who like my comic and people who don't.

Thanks for reading!

I'm afraid I'm gona have to go with the "don't likes" on this one. You are getting your' work shown on BlogTO, not only one of my favorite sites but fairly well-read, oft-viewed site. I guess I hold it to a different standard and I just can't help but think, with the well of talent and creativity they could draw from, that they could find better. Perhaps also, someone a little less ambivalent on whether or not the viewing public likes it or not. Maybe at least have a point, have it be funny or at least entertaining. There are plenty of people who would love to have, and take great pride in having, their work published or shown on this site. You have been given that opportunity and yet you seem to feel like it's no big thang and you don't really care either way. So, if you don't care whether or not people like your work, or if it's shown on here, maybe we could have someone's work shown who DOES care. Maybe? I'm not trying to put you down, you seem like a pretty laid back guy, I would just like to see something worthy of the other talents (writing, photography) I see and have come to expect on this site.
If you put stuff up on your' own website and say you don't care whether or not people like it, that's fine, and the people who like it can go to your' site, and those who don't can go screw themselves, I'm with you on that. But, you are on BlogTo, and I check this site often, everyday, so, if we are having a vote (which I'm not sure we are), I'd have to say I'd like to see something else. But that's me, and you can't please everyone, all the time, so...

It would be nice to see your style evolve a bit. You've been drawing the same strip, in the same style for years now. You've gone through all the U of T papers and now you've moved on to the blogs but it's the same old, same old. The content doesn't exactly justify such a long tenure.

Hey other Steve -- I really appreciate being on this site and I put a lot of work into my comics -- I just don't care if there are people who don't like my stuff. Like you said, you can't please everyone.

I think blogTO should feature a wide range of comic strips that appeal to the different tastes of our readers and their expectations as to what a comic can and can't be. And blogTO's hiring right now -- so I hope to see some more cartoonists step up to the plate.

And Steve -- I suggest you encourage the talented cartoonists you mentioned to submit their work. The more comics the better, I say -- even if they're strips that I don't like.

And Mick and Geoff -- glad you dig my stuff. Thanks.

Well Paul -- I have to disagree with you on that one.

Thanks for the feedback.

I don't know what you guys are fussing about, I'm enjoying the strip!

I disagree with the critics, I actually think the strip is quite clever. It's wacky, but deals with uncomfortable aspects of the Toronto landscape that are disturbing for a lot of people (i.e. homelessness, mental illness, environmental consciousness). Don't get all huffy just cause you don't get the joke, and as for the opinion that it's juvenile and silly, so is Seinfeld, so what's your point?

... that was a rhetorical question, I don't actually care about what your point is (*winks to jason)

I will give you that you (Jason) do at least focus on topics that are different and a little bit more "real".
At least you're not "Ziggy" or "Hi and Lois": - )
Maybe sometimes I don't get it because I'm not supposed to, compared to, I imagine, most of the readers here, I'm an old man. I like your' idea that they could feature other artists (maybe I can try and submit sometime, but I don't live in TO, unfortunately).
I don't know if you know of this site, but it really is an excellent one, www.drawn.ca (I have no financial interest and this isn't an ad, it's just a cool site)

and I would add, it's because of sites like BlogTo, that I know more about what's happening in your' great city than my friend who actually lives there: - )

It's not a big deal, but I also don't like this strip. I agree with the other Steve, and no I don't want a whole bunch of comic strips on blogto (1 or 2 good ones are fine), because blogto isn't a comic site and it would distract too much from the handful of posts each day. I like the visual style of this strip, but find the themes and jokes pretty bland.

Actually, I think the better thing would be for blogTO to feature a strip or two from different TO artists each time, and not give one a long tenure. If people actually like your strip enough, they'll bookmark your site and read it there. Alternatively, have one of the blogTO writers take care of browsing the various TO comic artists and do a pick of the week post highlighting the best strips of the week, so the good artists will actually get more than one mention.

I can't understand why there wasn't as much voicing of dislike for the horrid m@b strip. Maybe there was something else at play there. I did catch the rare reader comment in Eye Weekly disparaging it so I know it's not just me that didn't get it--ever.

I have to agree with Eugenia's critique ("I like the visual style of this strip, but find the themes and jokes pretty bland.") as well as his/her suggestion (" feature a strip or two from different TO artists each time")

Thanks for the suggestion, Eugenia. I'll pass it on to the blogger staff!

Honestly, there is nothing witty, clever or interesting about this strip. It is simply silly. While we all want to support artists, can't we aim a little higher in our standards for the Blogto website?

Please, let's set the bar a little higher.
