Neat

NeatNeat (Space. Edited.) has moved from Yorkville to Queen West, taking up Portobello's old space and making it new (and neat) again. One-stop shopping for high-design organizational solutions for the whole home (/condo). Carrying all the major lines (e.g. Metro shelving) as well as more unusual large items, like their (already very popular) vibrantly coloured cylinders for wall-mounting your bike, the LAX furniture line, and Louis Ghost seating.

Awesome store and even better customer service. They layout is simply perfect and a great overall feel.

The products are great. Bought a fantastic carpet there by FLOR.. spent quite a bit of money on it. Unfortunately customer service was a disaster at the store. I ordered a rug KIT, this means, it comes pre-cut, proper number of tiles and instructions. When it arrived, there were tiles missing, only 1 was cut and not factory cut, hand cut and crooked. It occurred to me that instead of ordering the kit, individual tiles were ordered and thrown together in a box and they called it a kit. The staff tried to blame the company (FLOR)for disorganization but it was the Neat staff that made the mistake and wouldn't own up to it or even apologize. It also took nearly 2 months to get everything in order... not impressed.

I am afraid that Jo has made a mistake. We do not assemble or cut FLOR tiles at NEAT. We do not have the ability or the equipment. We import tiles directly from the manufacturer and they arrive as is. I expect the staff didn't take responsibility because they couldn't. We certainly take responsibility as a company. If anyone has a problem with their tiles, we will replace them at no cost. Time is certainly an issue -delivery times to Toronto are an issue due to the large demand for tiles and the large selection. I would have preferred to tackle this in-store. I certainly will apologize if Jo is unsatisfied. Jo- do you want to return the tiles for a refund?

Also ordered a rug kit from Flor and the customer service was great. Neat kept in touch with me by e-mail ( in fact they still let me now about store specials). The rug tiles came when they said they would and were easy to install. We get alot of compliments on the rug and once again I was very happy with the service.

Neat's customer service is lacking to say the least. I bought a gift and it didn't work/was broken; They wouldn't give me a refund. Clearly, they don't stand by their products. I was a regular customer of Neat and understand the 'no refund' policy, but if they sell something broken, a store that wants return customers should make an exception (esp. when selling something broken!). You can order a lot of what Neat has on www.gnr8.biz and for less $$.

In response to Leebert, at minimum, Neat would have offered an exchange for a gift that was broken when purchased. Leebert - if you had (have) a receipt we would be happy to rectify it. I would be happy to hear more about Neat's sale of broken products anytime. We are certainly easy to find. Regrettably, none of Neat's products are carried at www.gnr8.biz. It looks like a fun e-commerce only web site with great products.

I wasn't impressed with the customer service neither. The Asian guy that works there is quite friendly, but there's this one girl who gave me the long face. She didn't greet me when I checked out, didn't say a 'thank you' in the end. I was like what the hell is wrong with her.

I bought something at Neat that didn't meet my needs, and they were extremely generous in helping me with my return, even though I'd opened the packaging. I am surprised to read bad reviews of their service, as I've always had great experiences and they seemed to me to be extremely customer-focused.
