This business sells very nice items, but beware as the company wishes to move items regardless for profit without consideration for the buyer. Delivery is performed by sales staff (not professional movers) and the manager does not have adequate product knowledge on the items that are sold. Items are delivered very late, and may be damaged during the delivery.

The company will be a headache should issues arise with your furniture and I personally will stick with places that provide professional service with supported policies that make the customer feel valued.
I do not recommend this place.

What a great shopping experience in a great part of the city. I was just about to purchase a new futon from the Brick when I came across East West and I'm very pleased that I did. As soon as you enter the store you feel like you're in a magazine. The layout is great and the items that the store can provide you with go far beyond futons. In regards to the sales people, they were all very pleasant and extremely helpful. They have a great tracking system of their in stock items which made it very easy to set up a delivery for my desired date. In respect to the delivery process, it was swift and painless...a nice change from the big box stores. In closing, I'd like to say that the shopping experience at East West Futons was so pleasant in every way that I would refer anyone to go there and I'll be going back myself.

WOW!! Graet attention to detail and very knowledgable staff. Had a great buying experience from the time I entered the store to the time I closed the door behind the delivery guy. He set up my futon and it has been working great ever since. I would recommend to all my friends.

I agree with Dennis' comments... the store is like a magazine compared to all the other shops on Bloor St. It is quite refreshing to walk into the store, with such bright colours, modern designs, and very helpful staff.

My wife and I were so pleased to have found East West Futons. Our general experience furnishing our new home was extremely poor with most sales, customer service and delivery being sub par (or worse). But East West Futons exceeded our expectations at every step in our process. The sales staff was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. They worked with us to design a look that suited our home and were able to provide us with a great deal on the final purchase. The delivery was scheduled to our timeframe and the delivery staff was professional friendly and helped assemble our pieces at a very reasonable price. Finally, we discovered that the coffee table that we ordered was larger than we anticipated (our poor planning, not East West Futon’s). To our delight, East West offered to have their manufacturers (Canadian made) create a custom designed piece to fit our space perfectly. What an entirely refreshing experience. I could not recommend them more highly.

East West Futon is a badly run business! They are like a big business trying to rip you off at every corner stuck in a small business store. We were trying to decide on a nice but overpriced futon. When the sales associate mentioned the 5 year warranty on the frame and 10 year warranty on the mattress, we decided to go for it for the peace of mind. But FYI to everyone, they are selling something that doesn't EXIST. Any business can push the warranty on an item when it doesn't even exist, in other words, LIE. When we had a issue with the dowels (those little pieces of wood that connect two wood panels), after a lot of going back and forth, they said that it was not covered. Even though on our receipt it says that everything is covered except for mold and compression. During the process, their customer service was absolutely horrible, rude, took forever, and their first reaction to any question is to LIE. And when you call them on the lie, they do not apologize, but are rude or lie more. And it's not just management, the sales associates lied for management too, and when you call them on the lie, they claim that they are just sales associates, but then why lie? Anyway, if you are thinking of buying a futon, I looked at a lot of places, and then decided to dish out the extra bucks for a nice futon at East West Futon, but basically it turns out they suck and should be taken to small claims court! But not worth it since it will take about 30 mins for me to fix the dowels or I can buy a new arm for $60. So all this effort by them to screw us on the warranty, losing us and everyone we know as customers, all to save themselves $60. Bravo!

I had a bad experience with East West Futon, in short they were difficult, deceitful, unprofessional and ultimately not helpful when dealing with my questions and concerns regarding a poorly manufactured product I bought there.

Wow, so I glad I found this page. I was considering purchasing a futon/bed frame for my spare room + a replacement futon mattress for a futon in my sunroom.

I was a bit suspicous regarding the warranty on a futon mattress - really?? Its not like you're spending $2000 for a Stearns and Foster afterall.

I will attempt to find a business that is honest and employs professional staff & delivery people.

I recently bought a futon from East West Futons on Bloor just east of Bathurst and had it delivered to my apartment. Not only was the futon of poor quality, the store had only sent one person to deliver it in its four parts.

When the driver called me to notify me he was at my door, I came to let him in and noticed that he had 3 boxes and one mattress to bring up the three flights of stairs to my apartment. Having been in a motor vehicle accident, I could not help the poor man up with each piece, so the most I could do was empathize with him and hold doors. After struggling up the stairs and safely bringing my purchases into my home, I gave him a measly $5 for his hard work and said, "Whatever your boss is paying you, it should be doubled" knowing full well that my tip won't even cover a round trip to the emergency room for his broken back.

In future I don't think I would buy from East West Futons again-- not only due to their lack of concern for the well-being of their employees-- but also due to the fact that their products are reportedly of poor quality, have defects, and are even missing pieces.

I know what you mean, Jennifer! I had a sofa delivered to my home and not only was it extremely heavy and barely took two men to carry it let alone one, but they sent me the wrong colour. I wasn't home at the time but my husband was, and he didn't notice the mistake so the poor delivery driver had to come back by himself and exchange them-- take the one initially delivered out to the van with my husband, and then they both had to bring the new one back up. It's a wonder how he got it into the truck on his own to begin with; I felt so bad!

Wow, this sounds like a load of bullshit. Did East West Futons write this review? I know I didn't have nearly the same experience. I came into the store intending to buy a few items my wife had expressed interest in and the saleswoman was sitting at the desk with a baby strapped to her front while eating a burrito and dropping various vegetables on her baby's head. The entire time we spoke, she had guacamole on her cheek and very bad breath. I felt as though her attempts at sales were amateur and sub-par. I left without buying anything.

I have had nothing but good experiences at this shop. I moved back to Canada and into my own place and needed to furnish my apt so I went looking and did lots of price comparison. If you want super cheap it is always easy to get it -- this store is not bargain basement cheap but I didn't want to that anyway. I wanted something that might have resale value!

The prices are very competitive for what you get. I bought a really sturdy bed from them and I have been super happy with it. Overall, they have a better selection of style for futons than anyone I have seen and the cover/fabrics are far more vibrant and interesting.

I recently intended to go and buy a couch from IKEA but decided to stop by and see what EAST WEST FUTONS had and I was shocked. I ended up buying a couch that was about the same price (which also folded out into a bed) and it was far better made. I was also thinking about getting a bean bag chair and EAST WEST had bean bags that were the saem price as other stores but for some reason the bean bags in this store were twice the size.

On top of all that, the staff didn't just talk at me with a long stream of info. They talked, I listened, the asked me questions about what I was looking for and I felt like they actually helped me make a decision. What I really liked is that I got what I wanted in terms of information from them and I got no pressure from them.

In the last month, I've spent close to $1000 there and I've bought a bed, a couch and a chair, a couple of pillows and a futon cover AND I am super happy with all of it.

The only thing I didn't like was that they don't deliver 7 days a week, that would have helped.

If your experience was not good, I respect that. At the same time, don't denigrate the comments of people who have had good experiences. My experience with them was great and I won't pretend otherwise. Therefore, I hope people who read these comments can respectfully ignore your comment about people writing "honest" reviews. The comment is manipulative and petty.

I just received my new futon a week ago from East West Futons and I must say, the experience was excellent. My timing was such that I was dealing with the owner who was a delight.
I had some very specific needs, so my questions were specific and many. All of them were answered and specifics explained.
Wow! Lots of options! I was able to choose the perfect futon for my tiny apartment.
East West was also able to provide many pillow options, sheets, covers, mattress protectors, etc.
I normally have to bounce around to two or three different places to get what I want. (I'm very picky!) To be able to purchase everything in one location was very convenient and a pleasure!
Delivery was timely, setup and explanation of how the frame works was great. The delivery and setup staff were friendly, positive guys. We had a great chat while they set it all up.

I did have an issue with the frame which East West does not build. One phone call with a quick explanation of the issue brought them back in days with profuse apologies and a fast replacement at no obligation to me.
My point here, is that they took ownership of the issue immediately and provided a solution right away. (A rarity now and days) They didn't hum 'n' haw and make excuses. They just fixed it and made sure I was satisfied before leaving.

I would recommend East West Futons to anyone wanting to be confident with their purchase.

Not very happy. Classic bait and switch sales tactics. The prices on the display model combos are not what they appear to be. " that 's a diferent quality futon. it's $130 more." Stuff like that. Interac not working. Go to the store get cash? I don't think so. Won't be back.

I purchased a mattress at East West Futons in 2012 and I found the owner (a red haired woman named Leanne) to be friendly, helpful and patient (with my many questions). I had a concern with the mattress after I received it and she resolved it quickly and fairly. Their prices are good as is the quality so if you live in the 'hood and you're in need of a bed or futon, definitely check out this store.
