Curry's, along with DeSerres, is Toronto's largest chain of art supply stores. There are locations splattered throughout the downtown core including the one pictured here near OCAD, on Yonge Street north of College, and on Queen West near Portland.
Each store is a little different. This one on Dundas is totally jammed with stuff - so much so your sort of need to put on your best impression as a contortionist to wind your way through it all. Selection wise, there's all the basic stuff an art student or hobbyist needs including a good selection of acrylic, oil and watercolours, rolled and primed canvas and stationery. Prices tend to be a bit more expensive then most other art supply stores in the city.

I like the little Curry's store on Dundas. It is really tight but I can usually get what I want fairly quickly. Prices seem to be the same as Aboveground (for what I'm buying at least...canvas,oils,brushes)and the staff is always decent with me.
A lot of interesting painters shop there...I get in on some truly interesting conversations there.
I have always found Currys to have low prices and really good selection and service. I wish they had a location closer to me though. I have to go by bus which is a pain.
I'm a little surprized to read that curry's has high prices.
From my experience shopping around for supplies, curry's seems to have the best prices on paint.
Sure, they don't sell many brands of dirt-cheep student grade crap, but the brands they do carry are usually cheaper than those same brands in other stores.
I find Curry's to be better priced than any supply store I've been to. They usually always have sales too which makes their low prices even cheaper. Even before I moved to Toronto I used to order off of their website and they had super cheap shipping.
Great alternative to Aboveground; reasonable prices on most stationeries, drafting tools and cheaper portfolios than the ones found at Aboveground. Another convenience: there are several locations closely located in downtown. The downside: not as clean and visually friendly as Woolfitt's and Aboveground. or even DeSerre's.
