Musa is gone for good
It looks like Musa, the little restaurant once at Dundas and Euclid, won't be coming back."I've decided I think I'm going to take a different path," owner Amy Fleischman told me when I asked her about Musa's fate. A five-alarm fire tore through the 120-year-old Victorian building housing the restaurant and a few second-floor apartments back in July. Right now, the building's owner is in negotiations with her insurance company, and the destiny of the structure is still a question mark.

T Cafe goes deadpool, frozen yogurt store prepares to open
T Cafe bit the dust rather quietly last week, so much so, in fact, that I've had difficulty pinpointing the exact date of its closure (I think it was on the 1st of September). In rather speedy fashion, the space it formerly occupied is already being prepped for the arrival of Menchie's, a frozen yogurt joint, which, judging from its website, has its sights set on world domination. The Danforth Music Hall enters the deadpool
The Danforth Music Hall has closed its doors. A bailiff's noticed posted on August 16 claims that the tenant who runs the concert hall, Ellipsis Leisure Retail Inc., owes $44,857.86 in back rent. The notice comes two months after the much-loved venue -- and heritage site -- celebrated its 90th anniversary. Originally a place to take in Vaudeville and other stage performances, the current incarnation of the space as live music venue followed significant renovations in 2004/05. Deadpool
Deadpool looming for This Ain't the Rosedale Library?
It appears that This Ain't the Rosedale Library will be the latest bookstore to enter the deadpool. Although not gone just yet, a notice of distress posted on the store's front door Saturday paints a pretty bleak picture. Alleging that the long-loved bookseller owes $40,000 plus costs, ownership has been given five days to pay their back-rent or the landlord will seize and ultimately sell the store's contents. Le Gourmand in the Deadpool
Five months after the landlord locked the doors on their Yonge and Eglinton location, Le Gourmand is now completely deadpooled following the closures of both their Spadina flagship and the cafe near Yonge and Bloor. In all three instances, a notice on the door indicates the owner was not able to keep up with his monthly rents. The amount posted due at 152 Spadina is $25,423.87. Deadpool
Is Yung Sing Pastry Shop going Deadpool?
Has Yung Sing Pastry shop served its last BBQ pork bun? Baldwin Village's favourite foodie destination has been closed since last year prompting many to wonder whether it's ever going to re-open.A makeshift sign (see below) affixed to the front window is still there from last November informing customers the shop is closing/closed for renovations and will re-open in Spring/Summer of 2010. The problem is - it's obvious to everyone that renovations haven't begun meaning the shop has basically been untouched for 6 months. The first day of summer looms in 4 weeks time.
So what's happening? Here's what I was able to find out.
