Pizza Gigi destined for the deadpool?
It could be deadpool for Pizza Gigi as police have recently seized the restaurant, which has been deemed an "offence-related property." Last March Gigi's owner, Salvatore Crimi, was charged with multiple drug-related offences, including the possession of what police estimated was $1 million worth of marijuana. Although many expected the popular pizzeria to remain closed following the raid, a few weeks later it was back open, its temporary closure chalked up the minor renovations rather than Crimi's run-in with the law. Is Duggan's Brewery deadpool?
It looks like Duggan's Brewery has gone deadpool. The dreaded Termination Notice to Tenant was posted on the front doors yesterday with the usual "non payment of rent" cited as the reason for lease termination. What this means for the future of the #9 IPA (as well as the other popular offerings) is unclear but bars around Toronto might find themselves with a suddenly available tap if the situation isn't resolved soon. If anyone has any information on the future status of Duggan's please add the info to the comments below. Deadpool
Yasi's Place goes deadpool
Yasi's Place, known for its brunch and signature potatoes, deadpooled last week. According to Yasi Zorlutuna, who first opened the restaurant on Wallace Ave. west of Lansdowne, the business had been struggling financially."I actually sold my share of the business to my partner back in June," she says. "I just wanted to move on, start a family. But I know since then sales have been going down."

Musa is gone for good
It looks like Musa, the little restaurant once at Dundas and Euclid, won't be coming back."I've decided I think I'm going to take a different path," owner Amy Fleischman told me when I asked her about Musa's fate. A five-alarm fire tore through the 120-year-old Victorian building housing the restaurant and a few second-floor apartments back in July. Right now, the building's owner is in negotiations with her insurance company, and the destiny of the structure is still a question mark.

T Cafe goes deadpool, frozen yogurt store prepares to open
T Cafe bit the dust rather quietly last week, so much so, in fact, that I've had difficulty pinpointing the exact date of its closure (I think it was on the 1st of September). In rather speedy fashion, the space it formerly occupied is already being prepped for the arrival of Menchie's, a frozen yogurt joint, which, judging from its website, has its sights set on world domination. The Danforth Music Hall enters the deadpool
The Danforth Music Hall has closed its doors. A bailiff's noticed posted on August 16 claims that the tenant who runs the concert hall, Ellipsis Leisure Retail Inc., owes $44,857.86 in back rent. The notice comes two months after the much-loved venue -- and heritage site -- celebrated its 90th anniversary. Originally a place to take in Vaudeville and other stage performances, the current incarnation of the space as live music venue followed significant renovations in 2004/05.
