Coleman's Deli, Da Zone Go Deadpool
Da Zone, the expansive sneaker shop near Queen and Denison has vacated the premises. It has been a while coming. I spoke to the owner about a year ago who hinted a closure might be in the cards. Like other Deadpool entrants along Queen, Da Zone was looking at a high rent and probably had more square footage than they really needed.
While the Da Zone brand name is now dead, the store was owned by SVP Sports which operates a number of other stores in the GTA. A message has been posted to their web site indicating (mostly suburban) locations where similar product might be found.
The same cannot be said for Coleman's Deli. In business for 50 years, this North Toronto institution recently made an appearance on our round-up of the Best Delis in the city. They were famous for their "Big Moe", a compilation of hot beef brisket with onions and horseradish.
But in a note posted to their web site they have announced that Coleman's has closed its doors for business. The web site Save the Deli has a post about its demise.

When I worked in the area I was there at least once a week for a Big Moe. I still would make trips up there occasionally. I guess it is hard to run a deli that sells good quality food at reasonable prices. I guess the success of Pickle Barrel is proof that it can't be done or people don't care about what they eat.
