House of the Week: 1 St. Ives Avenue

Posted by Sarah Ratchford / June 18, 2013

1 st ives avenue torontoThis home at 1 St. Ives Ave. in Lawrence Park (At Lawrence Ave. E. and Mt. Pleasant Rd.) is much like your ex: it has lots of crazy personalities all rolled into one big ball of it's-impossible-to-see-what's-going-on, but that's kind of what you like about it. In some moods, like the wine cellar, this house thinks of itself as a modern, wooded Tuscany situation. In others, it's more Victorian-mod, with a touch of the pearl-clutching but relentlessly stylish elderly lady. There's even a touch of the lumberjack in the exposed beams in one of the dining rooms—something for everyone!

Why do you need bedrooms that big, you only sleep there.

I really hope this is Mike Weir's house.

Otherwise having his picture above your bed is super weirdzy.

otherwise dig it.

I love this house. I wouldn't even redecorate. Not even the wallpaper on the ceiling of the wine cellar or the picture of Mike Weir.

Wow, what a house!

If you don't know what to do with all the space in the bedroom, you do not deserve this kind of bedroom. ;)

And why on earth would we want to look at houses that regular people can afford? Boooorring!

Why do you need two chairs in what appears to be a powder room?! Are you planning on entertaining company in there?...

What, you mean basement rentals for $750/mo? I'd be surprised if you could even afford that.

There are many beautiful types of kid's rooms out there. It's so hard to get that balance somewhere
between safe/functional and something that truly looks great!
Picking out material and designs which will last from toddlerhood
straight to childhood is very challenging.
