The photos of the week: October 6-12

Posted by Derek Flack / October 12, 2012

Toronto fogThe photos of the week collect each of the editor-selected photos of the day into one post for a contest to be decided by our readers. Sponsored by Posterjack, the photographer whose image receives the most votes will be awarded with a voucher code for a 24"x36" poster print of their work.

All the rules and fine-print can be found in the original announcement post on the blogTO Flickr page. One thing to add, however, is that the voting period ends at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, after which the winner will be contacted with the good news (We're still in the process of contacting past winners).

For those photographers whose images are featured below, please feel free to give us a little information about your shot — i.e. where and when it was taken — in the comments section. Who knows? Maybe your description will sway voters in your favour!

Neil's shot is terrific, and will definitely win, but I'm going to have to vote for #3...

I would say "In Scape". It has the most essence and doesn't seem to be just an eye candy.

really great set this week. Neil Ta's fog shot is just stunning as I love the city shrouded in fog. I really like Patrick and Jonathan's compositions too, they're solid.

wow, jonathan. right now somehow neil has kicked in the turbo votes and pulled way out ahead. but ur photo is so much more complex and rich. kind of like comparing csi miami to gone baby gone. guess neil has more friends.

All photos are awesome. Going with Neil Ta! Also like 4 and 6. 3 is also great but needs something to relate it to Toronto like the C.N. tower sticking up. As is, it could be anywhere.

While photo #6 is very well-framed, the top photo is easily the most dramatic and visually stunning of the batch.

Jonathan's is boring. #1 all the way. Don't know either of these people.

Thanks for all the votes guys. I'll be giving this print away to someone on my Facebook page anyway since it garnered so much interest from people.

I took it from the CN Tower the last crazy fog storm we had, despite some speculation that it was a 'rooftopping' shot. I didn't even bring my DSLR or proper tripod but was still able to get a pretty nice shot.

As a side, I love Jono's 'Inscapes' project. It's brilliant. Lastly: needs more Syncros and Evidence this week!

I enjoyed all the pictuers. Niel, Patrick and Jonathan captured the best photo. Niel you get my vote since you went all the way up to CN tower to shot this.

Voted for #1 it's a beautiful image. Looking at it you almost vision something to happen the fog to move or lift.

Amazing to see how many other buildings top that fog in 37 years, Imagine ho many we have built in just the last 5.
Well done Neil.
