The photos of the week: August 18-24

Posted by Tom Ryaboi / August 24, 2012

Underpass ParkThe photos of the week collect each of the editor-selected photos of the day into one post for a contest to be decided by our readers. Sponsored by Posterjack, the photographer whose image receives the most votes will be awarded with a voucher code for a 24"x36" poster print of their work.

All the rules and fine-print can be found in the original announcement post on the blogTO Flickr page. One thing to add, however, is that the voting period ends at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, after which the winner will be contacted with the good news.

For those photographers whose images are featured below, please feel free to give us a little information about your shot — i.e. where and when it was taken — in the comments section. Who knows? Maybe your description will sway voters in your favour!

My photo above is a view of the city from the Leslie St Spit. I cycled out there to catch sunset and setup my tripod near a new lagoon that was built this summer - it gives a great mirror effect when the winds are light. As my tripod hit the ground it startled some ducks nearby who started paddling away. I quickly put my camera onto the tripod and waited for the ducks to cross paths with the setting sun and took the photo.

@Syncros your shot is like a better version of something I took last year. I wasn't fortunate enough to have a DSLR with me, but the sight was simply amazing http://artsocket.com/archive/2011/tommy-thompson-park/

Great shot. That was taken in the same area I was in, they've used loads of fill to turn that area into a lagoon. Sadly its taken away all that nice driftwood that was there (and in your photo).

I voted for the CNE (3) since its the good rare moment and angle captured. I have seen enough of Toronto sunset landscape pics all over places.
