Photos of 2011 Canada Day fireworks in Toronto

Canada Day Fireworks TorontoOf the various long weekend fireworks celebrations in Toronto, Canada Day tends to reign supreme. With four major shows taking place in the GTA — and tons of small neighbourhood displays — there were plenty of pyrotechnics on offer. The most popular destination was likely the west lake shore, where onlookers could be seen gathered all the way from Ontario Place to the Humber River, a vantage point from which it was also possible to see the Ashbridges Bay show in the distance. Here are some of the early photos that have been added to the blogTO Flickr pool. Lead by mauriciojcalero.

Those are really cool. There's also some music on the theme:

I went to see the fireworks at Ontario Place for the first time. My advice would be to avoid Canada Day Lakeshore. Were the other venues any good?

On the positive side: I saved a guy's life by pushing him out of the way of a car running a red light near Queen's Quay after the fireworks. So, in that regard I'm glad I went. He thanked me as well, which is uncommon. I'm really disappointed by the lack of couth people have in Toronto. It really hits you hard when you are raised in other parts of the country.

It's a tough city and people are hard ass. It's because the quality of life is low. And the traffic congestion so bad. It makes you nuts after a while and when that happens, all decency flies out the window. And you've become a full fledged Torontoista.
