A first look at the 2010 Air Show
Although the annual CNE Air Show isn't set to begin until this afternoon, it was difficult not to notice that many of the planes arrived in Toronto yesterday. Shortly after 10 a.m. the piercing sound of supersonic jets could be heard across the city -- a not so gentle reminder that summer is coming to a close. We have photographer David G. Tran covering the show for us this weekend (he's something of an aerial specialist), but given that not everyone will get to go, here's a run down of a few of the planes that you'll hear shooting overhead for the next few days.

Update (September 4, 1:30 p.m.):
The CNE Air Show has been cancelled today due to high winds. Weather permitted, it will be on as usual Sunday and Monday.

Get a life. The air show is good fun.
The airshow is awesome. I live in Parkdale and have been enjoying my front row seats for years.
If you don't like the airshow, leave the city.
Srsly people, it's only for 3 days. Enjoy it!
Warmflash: what are you on about? What do smoking in bars and cars idling have to do with the air show? Some vague connection to air pollution, no doubt. Get a life you pseudo-environmentalist hippie.
And Tanya, I don't typically generalize, but I'm guessing your pet is some kind of useless purse dog, and that you're equally as useless. David put it quite well, if you're going to waste time worrying about planes from the air show hitting your apartment, you should be worried about the thousands of commercial jets and even private planes that fly over us everyday. The pilots at the air show represent some of best pilots in service, and of anyone, pose the least threat due to a catastrophic accident.
