Happy Hour with Mark McKay 3.4

Posted by Staff / April 16, 2007

Lots of crime committed in the city this week. The biggest crime in my opinion is the misappropriation of funds and nepotism committed by the RCMP. I heard they've re-paid most of the money they stole back. But what I want to know is where did the money come from? Stolen from somewhere else? When the cops are crooks, who polices the police?

Great. A guy to delivering/rapping/spoken-wording the news.
I might barf.
FUCK YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MAD THIS SHIT MAKES ME. DO PEOPLE REALLY THINK THAT ANYONE UNDER THE AGE OF 40 NEEDS SOME SWEATY EX-BURNGINMAN GRAPHIC DESIGNER ACTIVIST TO FUCKING RAP THE FUCKING NEWS TO ME IN A VOICE THAT SOUNDS LIKE RICK MORANIS ON SPEAKER PHONE. YOU GUYS NEED TO CAN THIS PRONTO. PLUS HE WAS IN LEN.

dee / Nick / pedro / whoever you really are:

If you're going to pretend to be three different people, at least wait a while before posting again or use a proxy so your IP doesn't give you away.

You obviously have a grudge against Mark if you're going to make the effort to try to smear him like this. A suggestion: write one intelligent criticism instead of wasting your time with mulitple fake aliases and cursing. :)

what ever happened to that guy from Len. Ohh there he is. phew I was really worried about his career for a while there.

this.
really.
suks.

We are three different people who work in the same office. That takes care of your IP theory. Also, is it beyond the pale that three people can't all hate this lousy feature? Nope. No it's not.

The RCMP and Toronto Police Service are not related.
Jerrold / April 18, 2007 at 10:55 am

Either way, there ought to be a better way (i.e far less lame way) to express your disliking for the feature without resorting to your office buddies gang attacking by flinging insults, cutting and pasting dictionary definitions, CAPS LOCK CURSING, etc. Just my 2cents.

Now I know why, as a Torontonian living in New York, I usually go to torontoist and not blogto to find out what's going on in hometown.

This is beyond terrible, you guys. I'm glad that Mark McKay got no pleasure out of "reporting" the city's 14th homicide of the year, and not to steal his sunshine or anything, but perhaps he could have learned to pronounce Burnhamthorpe correctly before "reporting" anything at all. And yes, I know this was already pointed out, but there was an LOL in there, and there is nothing funny about any of this.

In your attempt to make the news more digestible, you've actually made me throw up. Thanks.

As a New Yorker who lived in Toronto for a little while and is friends with the Torontonian that now lives in New York, this is ghey. Seriously, I didn't watch the video clip or anything because all these other guys say it sucks and I'm just going to take their word for it.

OMG. You people are really useless. Mark is doing a wicked job with his show. Dude has drive and initiative. What the fuck are you doing with your pointless lives? I'll tell u what... nooooooothing... so keep on hatin' cuz that's all you'll get in the end. And, so what if he doesn't know the correct pronoinciation of "Burnhamthorpe", I actually found it funny.

Here are some quick responses to ya'all
Dee: *****************.

Nick: Look at your keyboard, right under the TAB button and above SHIFT, yea, on the left side. You see it? TURN OFF YOUR FUCKING CAPS Lock, or is that you yelling? Either way, you're *************

I wonder where these office monkeys work? Prolly some ******** wanna be TV STATION, 3 call letters, starts with C and ends with C? Can you guess where?

Come on people, keep your comments clean please.

I don't want to have to edit/close comments in this thread, but I will if the childish and offensive name-calling continues.

Wow, you guys really don't like my show!

Sorry to hear I made you throw up Lisa, last week I apparently made someone crap their pants. I guess my show tends to make people lose control of their bodily functions.

Nick, I actually blur the lines between the OPP and the Toronto Police - I think thats what you meant to say. And just to clear things up: I was never a graphic designer, never went to burning man or BURNGINMAN, and I look like Rick Moranis. As far as anyone under the age of 40 not needing someone to rap the news to them, there are 200+ people a week (and growing) who actually want to hear what I have to say. Besides its not really a rap, it doesn't really rhyme.

Pedro, you don't have to worry about my career - actually it wasn't much of a career to begin with! I was just the tour DJ for the band. What a tour though! If anything I'm worried about you, Nick and Dee, spending so much time at work on the internet looking for people to harass.

Ebeth, you didn't even watch the show, so what can I say? Your opinion doesn't even count! Not that anyone here had anything constructive to say.

Why don't you all send me the links to your weekly internet shows that you write, edit, produce and star in and then maybe I might actually care about what you have to say.

But by all means keep the hate mail coming. We just need a few more of these before this show will make the most commented list!

Mark

Mark, the show is looking good, and is improving with every episode.

It's funny how people turn forums into arguments after basically the first post. The wonders of modern communication.

For all the haters, why don't you make your own videos to rebuke Mark?, instead of immature posts? Oh right, your just critics and not creators.

Keep the goods coming Mark.

I have to say I enjoy BlogTO but really did not like this silly news segment. It's like "The Hour" but instead of George doing his "hipster anchor" thing it's just a crackhead rambling. It's the web equivalent of the guy with the sign on a stick walking around the Eaton Centre talking to himself... with just as many people paying attention.

I'd like to know if you have permission to use those clips from CTV? Posting your show on YouTube is one thing, having this as a regular segment on BlogTO which has advertising as a revenue stream is another. I see on your website you say you work for Robtv, which had been re-branded BTW. I just can't see that being true after watching such a boring, irritating bit of visual trash. Don't call me a hater, because you have to get excited and impassioned to hate something, this is just annoying.

LAWL, for people who don't like the show, they sure are pretty fuckin' obsessed with it. It's like they got a crush on Mark, circa-grade 3.

And double lawl, if you three are working in the same office you must hate your lives a bunch to be all worked up over INTERNET VIDEOS all day long instead of doing your jobs. I mean, The Hour is a shit show, but it's not THAT bad.

Tonight On The Hour - Blogastan

Those guys are from the hour for real? that is hilarious, on the outside chance they are reading this - you are like the paris hilton of canadian tv, for the love of cod put some underwear on.

Good job Mark :)

To make a relevant comments, I think people don't get a hit put on them for playing nice. I don't care if you are 18, 25 or 36, if you were dumb enough to get yourself in such shit that there's a hit on you, you probably deserve everything that's coming. I have no pity or compassion for such people.
