Coming to Next Week's Morning Brew: Crossroads Puzzles!

Posted by Jerrold Litwinenko / April 6, 2007

20070406_CRPsample.jpgRecognize this part of the city? It's an easy one. Consider it a warmup! Post your answer in the comments (and make your eyes go out of focus so you don't accidentally see the answer in a previous comment).

Peter, over at our Freshdaily sister site "Beyond Robson" in Vancouver, has been including "Crossroads Puzzles" in his Morning Brew news roundups. It's a fun way to start the day, and we like it so much that we're going to do the same here.

An aerial snapshot of Toronto from Google Maps will now also be included in blogTO's Morning Brew, so watch for this fun new addition to start on Monday!

I'm guessing Trinity-Bellwood park.

Looks like some (additional) fun is in store with the Morning Brew from now on.

My idea was to borrow the idea from our fellow Freshdaily bloggers. ;)

I have two weeks worth of puzzles queued, from locations all over the city. Should be fun!

Queen and Strachan it is!

Next week, the snapshots will cover a wide area of the city, so I don't expect that everyone will know all of them (though I'll be very impressed if you score perfect). :) I think you'll have fun playing Crossroads!

Good idea, but this is either coincidental or a slight rip-off of Spacing's intersection game.

Ahmad, I actually pulled this idea directly from the Morning Brew on our sister site in Vancouver (click the link and you'll see what I mean), and I don't think they read Spacing out there. Or maybe they do. I don't know.

I can see why you might think I got the idea from Toronto's Spacing Wire - it is a similar concept. I plan to feature landmarks, parks, buildings, and other things visible to Google Maps as well.

Hopefully you can enjoy playing it regardless of how you think it was conceived or how much originality you think it embodies.

I've never heard of Spacing. I got the Crossroad idea after posting how Vancouver finally got hi-res images in Google Earth in <a href="http://www.beyondrobson.com/news/2007/03/morning_brew_march_30_2007/"; target="blank">this Morning Brew. I asked readers to the ID the intersection in the accompanying photo, thus spawned the Crossroad Puzzle. Since then, our readers have enjoyed playing it.

The south end of Trinity-Bellwoods park of course, opposite Strachan.
