Morning Brew: March 2nd, 2007
Your morning news roundup for Friday March 2nd, 2007:
The cleanup of the 32-car freight train derailment in Ajax is being hindered by the continuing icy rain conditions. Crews should have things cleared by this afternoon.
Christie Chewy Chips Ahoy! cookies may have been contaminated using a "sharp metal object", according to Kraft. Check those recalled product lot codes.
Police shot a man who was wielding a 2x4, and two police officers were also injured at a Markham Road & Eglinton area store. SIU is involved, so details are not many yet.
The Toronto Blue Jays beat the Boston Red Sox in their spring training home opener in Dunedin, Florida.
The TTC doesn't want to be dirty, and they're looking into cleaning things up. I propose that whoever has been assigned this task take a trip to Kipling and use the toilets there, if they dare.

We were waiting for a train at Greenwood I think, and he noticed the Anti-Trash Pig posters that the TTC had up.
"I like how the TTC wants everyone to be clean and not throw their trash around" he said.
"Whats wrong with that?" I asked.
"Where are the trash cans?" he said.
True enough, I haven't seen a trash can on a station platform in a long time. Of course, throwing your trash on the ground or in the car is reprehensible, but how about not spending the money on a stupid ad campaign, and spend it on more available trash recepticles?
Another example of the TTC with it's head in its ass.
Tokyo is immaculate and there isn't a trash can anywhere where we do have them. It's a respect issue.
I once watch a woman peel an orange onto the subway car floor. I told her off.
