Temporary Route Change

More construction is planned for the Bay Street tunnel between Union Station and the Ferry Docks. This has to take the prize for the TTC streetcar route that's disrupted the most, rivaling only the mayhem caused by installing new tracks on College a couple of years back.

What I don't get is why the TTC can't do a better job planning for construction on this route. It seems that all the work is being done during the winter - the worst time to be stuck on Queens Quay waiting for a replacment bus that seldom comes. It's also unclear to me why they have done this in phases. The tunnel was initially closed during December and January because the TTC was replacing the tracks. Now comes word that the route is going to be affected between the end of March to early May due to overhead wire replacement.

Yes! This is so annoying! I work on Spadina and a friend of mine is over on the east end of Queen's Quay - meeting up with her after work has often been hellish this winter, waiting in the freezing cold sleet, rain and wind for that rare bus. Extremely frustrating.

I find that the TTC rarely does anything in a way that makes any sense whatsoever. All part of their ongoing campaign to alienate the entire populace.
