I resolve to woof

Although the Toronto Humane Society's Boxing Day extravaganza is over, where each adoption came with a box of doggy or kitty treats, it's always a good idea to take a THS pet into your home for the new year.
People always talk about losing 10 lbs. or sleeping more for their resolutions. This way, you'd at least have a pal to sleep with. And while my apartment can't handle a pooch (though I wish it were large enough for a Bernese mountain dog), I took home little Ralphie with me, a visually impaired guinea pig. Sweetest guy ever.
At last count, there were 14 cats and 21 dogs available for adoption -- all but five are pitbulls. With I swear, the saddest looking eyes...
I used to walk dogs at the THS and wanted to take them all home with me. Even if it meant getting dragged down the street while drunks pointed and laughed at me.
Toronto Humane Society is located at 11 River Street, just east of Parliament. For more info, call (416)392-2273 or visit the Web site.

Recently due to mismanagement, strikes, lack of qualified workers, and politics the THS has had limited resources available to be placed on presently housed animals. Their mental well-being is not top priority and is being compromised as a result of these issues. Love and a true sense of moral responsibility should be the root of motivation when running an establishment such as the THS non-profit org. It seems as though there are currently not enough staff with authority in THS that share this belief.
We all were given the right of free will, used compassionately will help lead us to the best possible outcome in any given situation. Animals, when are diagnosed as having a slim change of becoming rehabilitated, should not have to leave this world with thoughts of fear and pain. NO we should not put down animals that display behavioral problems, or have even displayed physical aggression in the past, but allocate adequate funds into training them otherwise. FOCUS all donated money on making the THS better.
Lets allow the trained veterinary professionals decide when euthanization is required, not Mr. Tim Throw, current Toronto Humane Society (THS) President. Increasing the comfort level of the THS’ sick animals if not practicing euthanization should be TOP priority, and is not currently being taken seriously. The board of directors should help hire workers and respective Supervisors that love animals and therefore will create a positive and ideal environment for both staff and the adorable animals.
PLEASE volunteer, apply for jobs, or donate money to the THS if you love animals and their unconditional love. Do it for the innocent animals that cannot speak for them selves!!
