(12/16) The Questions...

Posted by / December 16, 2005

dec16blog_storm.jpg1. If it turns out to be true, should the TTC have warned people about Peeping Toms in the subway washrooms?

2. Why does the media overhype a winter storm?

3. Maybe it's just nostalgia, but didn't the Eaton Centre feel a bit more magical around this time of year?

1. The TTC is rapidly becoming one of the most reprehensible Toronto-based organizations. This is inexcusible.

2. It never ceases to amaze me that the citizens of Toronto can, EVERY SINGLE YEAR, be nothing short of astonished by the first major snowfall. Will we never get used to the fact that we live in a cold winter climate?

3. No comment. :)

1. Nothing really surprises me at the TTC when it comes to CYA
2. Get over it folks, this is Canada, it snows and sometimes alot during the winter
3. Christmastime in the city was a wonderful experience before P.C. took over. I harken back to the days before "Happy Holidays" and "Seasons Greetings". Maybe I'm just a little too old fashioned.

1. Sounds to me like they did plug up the hole and then the person opened them up again. So they left them open as part of a sting to catch the person who made them. Warning people about it would have tipped the peeper off, and they wouldn't have been caught. Also, seeing as the spot was presumably monitored for activity, it would seem unlikely that anyone got another "peep" in before they were caught. Although no one likes the idea of being spied upon at their most private, it seems to me that the TTC acted appropriately in this case (according the the articles I've read), by removing the cause of the problem rather than literally putting a patch on it.

2. "The Media" overhype the same things people tend to bitch about. So quit 'yer bitchin' and get proper boots!

3. Eaton Centre is like a thousand Chritmases all packed tightly into a very small space (a very small, hot, slightly funky-smelling space)!

Regarding question 3, can I just say I HATE Santa's new castle at the Eaton Centre, or as they're referring to them now at shopping malls, Santa's Holiday Setting. Where's the magic in clear plastic (or whatever that castle thing is made of this year) and the white leather couch that Santa sits on?!? Give me the old wooden castle and bench any day! I feel bad for kids these days ... they'll probably never know what it was like to truly experience the magic of Christmas like I (and others my age or older) did.
