Toronto Star Got Blog?

Apparently, the Star thinks that anything online can be called a blog. Case in point, their just unveiled Wakestock blog. Say what? Looks just like their other web content. Same format. No comment thread. How is this a blog? Oh, because they said so. Didn't you see the word blog in the title?

In its purest form, a blog is basically a journal that is available on the web. It looks like a journal to me...also, it doesn't have to offer comments or even look like 99% of the "blogs" that are currently in existance to be a blog. Please don't squash the history and orgins of the blog

i disagree. there are generally accepted definitions of what a blog is and what a blog isn't.

while we both agree that the word blog is derived from weblog, or a web based journal, i would argue that it is generally agreed that a real blog is published on a blogging platform and allows users to post comments. the star's doesn't meet this criteria.
