Weston Bakeries Surplus Factory Outlet

Posted by Staff / Posted on November 9, 2012

Weston Bakery OutletThe Weston Bakeries Surplus Factory Outlet is downtown Toronto's answer to discount factory shopping (for now), with steals such as two loaves for a dollar and change, plus marked-down Ace buns, tortillas, rolls, and more. You can also occasionally grab pantry items (such as teas, chips) on the cheap as well.

The location pictured in the magazine article is actually the outlet in the east-end at Eastern & Logan Ave. The building is on the south-west corner. The entrance to the outlet store is in the back of the building on Logan Ave. Enter by the back gate where the tall chain link fence is. Beware the hours listed in the picture and on the outside of the building are not the same as the stores actual hours.

This outlet will be open here until the end of the year and then it will be torn down or changed into more condos...just what the city needs!

Does anyone know what the store hours are for the 1425 Queensway outlet location this week? Do they usually have lots of burger buns on a daily basis?

New to the city and just walked past the Eastern & Logan location, that smell of fresh bread is sooo deliciously intoxicating, why would you want that gorgeous old factory torn down??

The Logan & Eastern store is closing at the end of December, 2013 and the building is to be demolished. Condos and row housing (aka town homes) will replace it in 2015.

I go to Weston Etobicoke regularly and they always have hamburg/hot dog buns and bread, but at what price is the real question!
Reg price would be ~$1.49, and almost always they have soon-to-expire $0.99 buns and standard white/brown bread. Also $1 bagels, english muffins, cookies, snacks, muffins, brownies, etc...I rarely leave without buying something. They also have a large variety of canned and bottled 'no-brand' goods like mustard, sauces, chocolates, spices, etc. as well as frozen items like french-fries, soups, burritos, garlice bread, etc. Sometimes higher end breads (flax, rye, harvest, frozen baguettes) or baked goods (fruitcake, donuts, sweets).

On their super-deal days (stuff expiring tomorrow...so no pattern on when these will be!) bread/buns are at least 4 for $1 (I've seen TEN for $1 before!!!), among other deals like $1 slab cakes, jelly rolls $0.25, chinese buns $0.50, and more.

If you have lots of freezer space it's a no-brainer...always worth a stop if you're nearby...and IKEA is next door for $1 breakfast or cheap lunch!
:)

Well, I can confirm that the location on Fordhouse Blvd is still there as I was there today. Went in expecting bread, and came out with so much more. Not a single item that I purchased was more than $3.

Got some "gourmet" chocolate chip cookies (the type that you see packaged for $6 in most stores), a couple of packs of maple cookies, some apple strawberry spread, raisin cinnamon bread, biscotti, gravy mix, a couple of kids toys with candy and some Gobstoppers. I got a bit of change back from the $20 I handed over.

Unfortunately I wasn't paying enough attention and wasn't looking out for a sign with their hours.

I walked in looking for some nice par-baked bread which unfortunately they didn't have, but I still walked out satisfied. If only I had a large freezer, I would've picked up a bunch of bread & buns at $0.25 each (pack\loaf, not per bun).

Is the Eastern Avenue location still open? Heading to Toronto early morning for a medical appt. and would love to drop by and get some goodies.

Building is on Northwest corner of Eastern and Logan. It is difficult to miss.
