L Opera TorontoL'Opera is a quaint little bakery and cafe near Yonge and Finch. While they serve macarons and a variety of pastries, the best thing to get here is a slice of cake paired with a cappuccino.

I told my friend about this place because it's right near her. She's is from Paris and has only been in Toronto for years. What she said to me was: "they are chinese...french pastries made in china not sure about it...!"

So what this is too easy to say because they could have learned the trade in school in France or elsewhere and spent considerable amount of time in France or Belgium for example! The only way is that your friend should try it instead of criticising it.

It's Chinese/Taiwanese. I tried, and I didn't like it cuz the cakes are no way to compare to the patisseries such as La Boheme, Rahier/Jules, La Cigogne, La Bamboche, Patisserie Sebastien, and Patachou. While the prices are pretty similar, I would absolutely prefer the real French pastries.
