Anna's Bakery & DeliAnna's Bakery & Deli is favourite Bloor West Villlage spot for Eastern European pastries, cookies and other baked goods. They also have a good selection of dry goods and frozen foods.

I am so disappointed with Anna's bakery. Most bakeries in Toronto will gladly tell you what is fresh, day-old and week-old, but time and time again, every time we try to give Anna's another chance because we would like to support local businesses, we are presented with the stalest cake. I can't tell if the lady helping us just doesn't care, or really doesn't know if anything is stale.

For $3 a slice, I expected much better and am on the hunt for a new eastern european bakery.

They use margarine in their baking, and as for being " favourite Bloor West Villlage spot for Eastern European pastries, cookies and other baked goods", they've given themselves that designation. They definitely aren't. Their stuff looks good but doesn't taste good because of the industrial fat they use in their baking. EVERYTHING tastes the same.

The slogan for this p;ace should be....... "If you want today's baked goods, come tomorrow"
and the name should be changed to:
"STALEST BAKERY"

My husband went there today to buy four strawberry tarts. His car was parked with in a block from the business and he came straight home. Upon coming home I unpacked the bag and noticed the box was upside down (It had to have been packed that way as there is no way it could have flipped itself!) My husband actually recalled the woman packing things poorly originally (she put the box on top of a bag of soft doughnuts...smart?) They were destroyed when I opened the box and looked like a someone had taken a hammer to them. We called and not only did the woman who was there (the owner? I have no idea) took absolutely no responsibility at all, she accused my husband of lying and tripping! seriously? over $12??? We went back, I put them on the counter, I told her I unpacked the bag myself which was tied, the box was upside down (her fault) she lied and denied it so I left them there and promised I had taken pictures and if $12 is worth some bad reviews to her then so be it. Rude staff, poor business practices!!! It would have cost her very little to offer to replace our order and would have went a long way in terms of customer service. On principal I would urge people not to go there!

I often frequent Anna's bakery for pirogies and doughnuts. It is easily one of my favourite bakeries in the BWV area, and I have a hard time walking by without wanting to go in and buy something sweet! I'm INCREDIBLY surprised with ^^^^ Susan's ^^^^ story! I have never had a problem with the staff ever — they are always incredibly friendly and helpful, and on the one occasion where I discovered one of my tarts had been broken, the server apologized profusely, refunded me right away, and gave me an extra tart as an apology. I've been living in this area for years, and have sadly discovered it's quite common for people to confuse Eastern-European mannerisms for "rudeness". Despite other users' bad experiences, I still would highly recommend Anna's Bakery if you're looking for a traditional polish treat in the area. ++Recommend: Raspberry and Apricot jam cookies, Custard Donuts, Cottage Cheese Pirogies.
