Toronto steps up its show of support for Egypt
Toronto's latest rally in solidarity with protesters in Egypt asking for President Hosni Mubarak to resign was held at 1pm at Queen's Park on Saturday. After numerous speakers addressed the crowd -- mostly calling on Prime Minister Stephen Harper to renounce his support for Mubarak -- protesters made their way along College Street, turned north on Yonge, and then headed back towards Queen's Park along Wellesley Street. Toronto rallies for Egypt at Yonge and Dundas
Several hundred people gathered at Yonge and Dundas Square on Saturday in solidarity with protesters in Egypt and the Arab world who have been demanding more democratic rights in their home countries. The event was organized on Facebook "to raise awareness in Canada and to tell the Egyptian regime that we are all watching and their crimes against the people will not be tolerated." Ombudsman's G20 report cites civil liberties violations
