Gore-Gore Rollergirls Win the Toronto Roller Derby Championship
The Toronto Roller Derby League wrapped up their first season last night with a long-awaited championship bout between the Gore-Gore Rollergirls and Chicks Ahoy!.

The game was months in the making as the league was searching for a new venue but this was well worth the wait. Making the switch from George Bell Arena to Rinx, derby fans went from controlled cheering behind the boards to being seated 'rinkside', mere feet (sometimes inches) away from the ruckus.

Oh, and what ruckus there was...

Nothing says, "let's get delivery," like a cold and rainy November evening, so this week I dug into my pile of semi-junk-mail delivery menus and rang up Regal Garden Chinese Restaurant.

This Bloor West resto advertises, "Fast, Healthy, Delicious food delivered to your door," on the front of their huge, triple-fold, doublesided menu. All three adjectives sounding fine by me, so I browse through the list of Chinese standards (along with Szechuan and a even a couple Thai dishes thrown in) and decide on some boring but reliable items.

Along St Andrew's St, where Chinatown meets Kensington Market, a little Korean restaurant is busy winning over regulars from both sides of the neighbourhood.

I'd just left the Moonbean cafe in Kensington with intentions of getting some dumplings in Chinatown when Ka Chi caught my eye. Texting my partner who was en route, I spell out the change of plans and head inside to get a table for two.

Manic Coffee
Manic Coffee is the new cafe on the Bathurst & College block, catering to local hipsters, computer salesmen and firefighters alike. I stop in on a weeknight with some friends and there's room to spare. We place our order and settle into the always entertaining window seat.

Walking along in Parkdale, I was looking to escape the less-than-sweet sounds of building demolition. Across the street from the freshly pulverized Queen West Car Wash, the Cinnamon Girls Café looked like just the place.

This quaint little spot offers fresh coffees, teas, hot chocolate, and juices (all organic) along with baked goods and a lunch menu that leaves me helplessly indecisive and wishing I could lunch here several times a day.
