Sushi 101: Competition in Training
Just when I thought the stretch of the Annex between Spadina and Bathurst was as sushi dense as possible, along comes another place serving raw fish, tempura and other Japanese faves. And it's located right next door to Sushi on Bloor.Find out more in my full review of Sushi 101 in the restaurants section.

Blackout Toronto, Mid-Winter Freeze Edition.
Toronto's west side is currently going on 5 hours without power. The Star (the only major media outlet to get the full story out early) reports that the blackout started around 10pm when there was a flood in a power facility at Dufferin & Bloor. A short-circuit there managed to leave a massive chunk of the city without electricity. We're talking Queen West to St Clair, Jane Street to Spadina, almost completely in the dark. With temperatures dropping to nearly -30 with the windchill overnight, it was hardly the kind of evening you want to go without heating either.

Disgraceland: Brunch in Bloorcourt gets Better
Disgraceland opened earlier this year on Bloor West and quickly won over local fans for its weekend brunch lineup.Having heard glowing reviews from friends but mixed reviews in the local papers, I was eager to get over there check it out for myself. Ready for anything, I walked over bright and early, settled into a seat by the window with a couple friends and ordered up the Veggy Benny, Green Eggs & Ham, a round of coffees and one Strawberry Mimosa ('cause hell, we're up before noon on a Sunday).
Ready the full review of Disgraceland in our restaurants section.

Pride 2008: Dyke Day Saturday in Photos

Despite forecasted thunderstorms, thousands showed up for Pride Toronto 2008's Dyke March and Pride Saturday festivities yesterday. Of course, lucky us, the supposed forecast didn't hold true (what else is new?) and the afternoon was sunny and beautiful.
Saturday was a jam packed schedule of incredible concerts, drag royalty, burlesque, dancing and the all-important marching... photo highlights after the jump.
