Leigh & Harlow, the newish clothing boutique near Queen and Bathurst takes its name from a couple of Hollywood legends (Vivian Leigh and Jean Harlow). And inside, labels on the shelves like Joe's Jeans and Paige Premium Denim might be just what a TIFF fan needs to stalk modern day celebrity starlets in September.

I'm a jeans and t-shirt kind of gal. I love them. And no matter what shows like What Not to Wear tell me, I like wearing tees that make a statement. And I can't help but love this year's Fashion Targets Breast Cancer "bullseye" shirt designed by Joe Fresh. (Fun fashion meets my budget? Hello!)

I can't speak for all Parkdalians, but I've been wondering about the old Thrift Town lot for a while (located at 1473 Queen St. W., near Jameson). It's taken forever for the empty space to be transformed into something substantial. And now, with the appearance of cheery face photos in the store's windows, it's become pretty evident what the space is going to be: a brand new Shoppers Drug Mart.

Big, established drug stores aren't exactly easy to find on this strip of the city, so no surprise SDM is planting a stake. But the anti-gentrification crowd isn't pleased. Several people I spoke with fear rents will go up. Or local businesses will be forced out. Or the chain store will permanently alter the rough beauty of the 'hood.

A lazy weekday stroll through Trinity Bellwoods in West Queen West led me to Robber, a brand new store full of hip and relaxed fashions that are sure to delight even the most finicky fashionista. Leisurely, feminine, and cool predominate.

Seemingly named after a food that makes me crave guacamole but actually all about fashion, this trendy boutique has quickly become a staple for fashion lovers and trendsetters in Liberty Village.
